Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is about to be denied the opportunity to determine his successor in the Federal House of Representatives – despite the massive influence he commands.

Those who should know attribute this development to a spillover of Aso Rock politics.

“Gbajabiamila has expectedly stepped on some toes and this has resulted in moves to contain his reach and influence” insiders disclosed.

As is usually the case in every government, there is said to be an unraveling and sizzling power struggle in the seat of power but in this case, the Chief of Staff is grappling with a combined influence that seems to be dwarfing him.

The information available revealed that spearheading this move is a powerful figure with a stronger personal relationship with President Tinubu.

The person who has unhindered access to the President is said to be pushing the candidature of another person, Raheem Owokoniran as Gbajabiamila’s replacement in the House of Representatives.

The move is directly against the desires of the former Speaker who resigned from the National Assembly – after securing another term in office – to become the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Gbajabiamila had initially leveraged his influence to posture Fuad Laguda – a staunch ally – as the next voice of Surulere Constituency 1 in the National Assembly.

But that ambition has started looking more like a mirage as moves to contain the influence of the Chief of Staff mount.
