Why Abiodun’s Loyalists Are Troubled Over All LG Chairmen’s Rejection Of Car Gifts From Gov

The rejection of car gifts by all the local government chairmen in Ogun state is troubling the loyalists of Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State.

Abiodun won the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election with 13,915 votes more than his main challenger, Ladi Adebutu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who has gone to court alleging he was leading by 33,000 votes before orchestrated violence forced the cancelation of votes in areas he is popular.
The governor’s foot soldiers had latched onto the former Governor of Ogun state, Gbenga Daniel heaping colorful abuses on him for the alleged betrayal that resulted in the near loss.
Daniel, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator-Elect in Abiodun’s base on the heels of a long-running supremacy battle with the governor switched support to the gubernatorial candidate of the rival PDP a few days before the election.
The Local Government chairmen’s rejection of car gifts from Abiodun comes in the thick of the dispute over his re-election.
“All of them without exception rejected the car gifts, that is a first in Ogun state and a big pointer on the governor’s grasp of unraveling political events” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
Added information revealed that particularly striking is the revelation that the Local Government chairmen have barely a year left in office while the Governor just secured another four years.
Information here and there claims that the local government bosses tagged the car gifts as “unbefitting.”
The rejection is reportedly hinged on claims the car gifts are a pledge that is long in coming coupled with the efforts they put in to help the governor get re-elected.
The rejected cars are the products of Mikano Motors, a subsidiary of Mikano International Limited and an exclusive partner of Geely Automotive in Nigeria.
