Wale Babalakin In Fresh Trouble With Associates Over Alleged N80m Bribe!

This is not the best of time for lawyer turned businessman, Wale Babalakin.

The promoter of enterprise Bi-Courtney is facing fresh crises from associates over brouhaha resulting from allegations of a N80m bribe rocking the chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde

The secret agents in the presidency are said to be investigating the EFCC chairman for receiving the bribe via a third party from Mr Babalakin.

The third party is alleged to be Alhaji Ajiboye (said to be a friend and front for Mr Lamorde).

The bribe is allegedly aimed at cushioning the EFCC’s investigation into claims that Mr Babalakin used his Bi-Courtney Group to launder N1.6b for ex governor James Ibori.

Mr Ibori is in jail in London, along with his wife, sister, mistress and lawyer for corruption charges.

The former governor’s conviction was based on efforts by the police abroad (the metropolitan police).

The E.F.C.C claim’s Ibori still has a case to answer at home- hence it’s investigation into Babalakin’s activities that has led to his ‘arrest’ twice- an occurrence that defeated the purpose of the alleged bribe.

The presidency’s investigation is said to be at the instance of the office of the National Security Adviser that forwarded the report to the presidency.

General Azazi Owoeye, the N.S.A is said to be a good friend of Mr Babalakin.

The N.S.A and the E.F.C.C chairman are said to enjoy estranged relationship.

It is believed that Babalakin leaked details of his dealings with Lamorde to Owoeye alleging plot to extort money from him.

The ploy was reportedly a two prong- to get the EFCC off his back and also provide the N.S.A with ammunition to bury ‘an opponent’

Sources claimed the scheme doesn’t appear to be panning out as expected- hence Babalakin’s associates grouse with.

The EFCC is said to have become more clinical in it’s investigation into the matter to prove it’s credibility.

A development that has put Babalakin’s business on a precarious edge if found wanting.

‘His associates are currently angry with him that he has put their investment in such a position’ a source confirmed.

The businessman is said to be seeking a way out of the logjam- especially with pressure on the presidency to remove General Owoeye from office over his comments attributing insecurity in the nation to actions of the President Jonathan’s political, PDP (People’s Democratic Party) amongst other ‘sins’.
