Video: Gov Abidoun Test Runs Electric “Okada” In His Elegant Agbada

The Ogun state Governor on Wednesday, August 1, 2024, launched a laudable initiative.
The state government puts into play its e-motorcycles and tricycles under the Ogun State E-Mobility Programme.
The “e” prefix is for electric while motorcycle is popularly – informally – referred to as “Okada”.
The initiative was launched at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta by Governor Abiodun who was so excited that he test – ran one of the electric motorcycles in his elegant agbada, complemented with his trade mark cap.

According to the statement released by the Government, the August 1, 2024 launch was the first phase of 2,000 electric motorcycles.
“We will be realizing about 2,000 e-bikes in the first phase. These commercial motorbikes can ride up to 75-80 kilometres on a full charge, and the vehicles can travel up to 200 kilometres, thus reducing transportation costs by 40 per cent.
“We aim to reduce our carbon footprint and bring about a significant change in how we think about transportation in our daily lives. This aligns with our energy transformation program for a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.” the statement quoted the Governor as saying at the event.
Agbada, worn by Governor Abiodun to test-run of the electric motorcycles is a free – flowing, almost ankle length spacious yourba cultural attire adorned over smaller clothings known as Buba (top) and Sokoto (trouser).
