In a recent interview on Channels TV’s SUNDAY POLITICS program, Governor Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as Chairman of the Crude Oil Theft and Management Committee of the National Economic Council (NEC), shed light on the nefarious activities of companies masquerading as investors while engaging in illicit oil theft and manipulation.

Gov. Uzodimma revealed that these companies are fleeing the country as they can no longer exploit the foreign exchange disparity, crude oil theft, petroleum subsidy fraud, and other corrupt practices that have plagued the nation.

Gov. Uzodimma emphasized that the departure of these fake investors is a positive development that will create opportunities for indigenous companies to actively participate in the oil sector.

He stressed the need for these companies to leave the country and allow Nigerian investors to thrive, thereby fostering economic growth and development.

He questioned the credibility of the so-called blue-chip companies involved in oil exploration in Nigeria. He pointed out that these companies, such as Shell, Chevron, Mobil, and Total, operate filling stations worldwide, but when it comes to Nigeria, they focus solely on offshore operations while neglecting onshore activities. He raised concerns about the environmental degradation caused by these companies, which blatantly disregard Nigerian environmental laws.

The governor emphasized that these companies cannot rightfully be called investors as they apply favorable conditions to their operations in other countries while adopting less stringent standards in Nigeria. He urged the nation to take control of its destiny and not rely on foreign entities that prioritize their interests over the well-being of the country.

Gov. Uzodimma expressed optimism about President Tinubu’s administration, stating that he has begun to change the narrative across various sectors. He called on Nigerians to support the president’s efforts to address critical issues and drive the nation towards progress.
