Untold Story: Insiders Reveal What Popular OAP MC Murphy Did That Earned Him Public Beating By Loyalists Of Fuji King Wasiu Ayinde

The reason for the independence day beating that popular broadcaster Wole Sorunke got from fanatic fans of the reigning king of Fuji music, Wasiu Ayinde Anifowoshe Marshal has been unveiled.

Sorunke better known as MC Murphy was beaten up on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at the 60th birthday celebration of Olu of Itori, Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo.

Societynow.ng learned that MC Murphy was beaten for allegedly insulting Ayinde Marshall who is the holder of the famous title Mayegun of Yorubaland.

According to an insider ‘’Mayegun was the musician contracted for the birthday celebration and in the course of the event, MC Murphy took one of his patrons to the stage for Mayegun to sing his praise but obviously didn’t get the desired response’’

Societynow.ng learned that Murphy in reacting to the response he got for his request reportedly made some on the spur of the moment snide remarks against Ayinde Marshal on stage which did not go down well with ardent loyalists of the musician who witnessed it.

‘’They are the ones that took Murphy up over what he did and beat him up for disrespecting their patron’’ societynow.ng learned.

Putting what happened into context a source explained ‘’You need to understand how this thing works, the man MC Murphy took on stage, Fasina Olajide is the sponsor of his weekly radio show. He wanted the man to get extra value with a praise-singing by Mayegun by leveraging years of association with the reigning king of Fuji music, but the musician didn’t build his brand by honoring all the requests made of him on stage. He told MC Murphy and his client to queue that there are others to be attended to before it gets to their turn. Now in social parlance, this is called bouncing. It is termed degrading because, if you are worth your salt, you are mentioned immediately you entered a social gathering and recognized by the musician once you step on the stage. MC Murphy understood what has happened to his client and expressed his displeasure with uncomplimentary comments against Ayinde Marshall on the spot.

The musician’s band boys and passionate fans also understood that if he gets away with it, others would be encouraged to try it and they gave it back to MC Murphy to protect the sanctity of their patron’s brand.’’

Insiders disclosed that Mayegun and his team tried to make peace with MC Murphy after the beating he was given, but the broadcaster cum entertainer refused.

‘’The fallout of MC Murphy’s refusal for the matter to be swept under the carpet is the trending stories you are seeing. The Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) which he is an influential part of has taken up the matter and pushing for justice on his behalf, especially against Ayinde Marshall’s band boys, KC and Gaji who led the attack’’ a source pointed out.

Insiders, however, insist that other stakeholders are hard at work trying to reconcile the two parties and make the matter go away.
