An insider has provided a deep insight into why the king of Fuji music, KWAM 1 chose to perform at the 30th birthday celebration of cross-dresser Bobrisky in the face of raging backlash.

The shining light of Fuji music whose real name is Wasiu Ayinde Anifowoshe is being vilified for identifying with Bobrisky who is seen as everything that is against what KWAM 1 represents as the Mayegun of Yorubaland.

Wasiu Ayinde as he is also known was installed as the Mayegun of Yorubaland by the Alaafin of Oyo and part of the responsibilities that come with the status, aside from serving as a unifier, is to serve as one the custodians and protector of the culture and tradition of the Yoruba race.

Crossdressing and passing off as a member of the opposite gender, especially by a man which has given Bobrisky whose real name is Idris Okuneye fame and patronage is alien to the Yoruba culture and heavily frowned on.

64yr old KWAM1 is being vilified for abandoning his responsibilities as a Yoruba leader, the Mayegun, and protector of culture exchange for a fat artiste fee as well as a strive to remain relevant with young people by performing at the 30th birthday of the controversial crossdresser.

An insider in the camp of the famous musician from Ijebu Ode, Ogun state has, however, provided insight into the considerations that shaped the decision that is attracting criticism.

“First and most important is the fact that Kwam1 is a professional and secondly being a crossdresser is not against the law in Nigeria. Alhaji has not flouted any law and Bobrisky is not flouting any law being a crossdresser, that was a major consideration” societynow.ng learned.

Another factor according to the source was that “Alhaji” (Ayinde Marshall as he is also known) is a Yoruba elder and being Mayegun of Yorubaland particularly makes him a unifier and this status makes it hard for him to “ discriminate against Bobrisky who has not flouted any law by being a crossdresser” societynow.ng gathered.

The insider was, however, silent on the claims that Bobrisky “really made it worth the while’’ of the “Ade Ori Okin” crooner to perform at the 30th birthday bash which held in Lagos in terms of “engagement fee.”

The party which transformed talk of the and subject of gossips and all manners of back and forth had in attendance the likes of Mercy Eke, Nengi, King Sunny Ade, Eniola Badmus, Tolani Baj, and Eric, and other popular names.
