Unease In Ogun APC As Talks Gbenga Daniel Is On His Way Back To PDP With Kashamu’s Structure Under His Wing Grow

There is growing unease in the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State.

This development has a links with increasing talks that former Governor Gbenga Daniel is on his way back to the People’s Democratic Party – with the formidable political structure of late Kashamu Buruji under his wings.

The talks milling around have it that Daniel’s return to the PDP was one of the conditions given for the former Governor to ‘’inherit’’ the well oiled political structure of Kashamu.

‘’It is expected that a bulk of OGD’s (Otunba Gbenga Daniel) supporters if not all would return to the PDP with him’’ Societynow.ng learned.

The talks have it that many of Daniel’s unsettled supporters in APC are pressuring him to make the move.

This development is expected to transform Daniel into a worthy opposition leader not just in Ogun State but the South West based on his widespread acceptance in PDP, especially by those in charge of the affairs of the party at the National level.

It would also be a big boost for the Presidential ambition of Atiku (Abubakar) who has declared he would take another shot at the nation’s number one seat in 2023 the growing talks indicate.

Gbenga Daniel was the Director-General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign for the 2019 election.

Insiders disclosed that ‘’the projections’’ in the growing talks are making leaders of the ruling party unease, especially those in the camp of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Daniel pulled his supporters from the PDP into the APC to provide Abiodun much needed support to help him become the Governor of Ogun State in 2019.

‘’The political arrangement helps the Governor to maintain a balance of a sort against other factors striving for relevance within the party as he struggles to get a handle on governance’’ societynow.ng learned.

It is believed that a collapse of the existing arrangement with Daniel’s return to PDP with his troops would not be to the Governor’s favor.

And while Atiku stands to profits as well, it won’t be to the favor of APC leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and others like him doused with talks of interest in succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari, especially in the South-West.

‘’If these things come to pass it will be a big boost for Daniel, he would be thrown up as a formidable opposition leader and political force to be reckoned with, especially in the south-west. And that’s a status he ought to have attained. But for Governor Abiodun, the political journey becomes more daunting’’ a source stated.
