The Untold Story: Why There Are Major Heartbreaks As Court Refuses To Give Popular Prophet Dele “Genesis” Ogundipe Bail

It was meant to be proof of strong faith and efficacy of spiritual power but it has turned into a major heart breaks for those concerned.

Contrary to major expectations of members of his church and staunch believers in his style of evangelism, Israel Oladele Ogundipe the popular prophet serving a year prison sentence for will not be at the annual harvest of his church on Sunday, December 20, 2020.

His bail application on health ground has been rejected by the court.

The court insists that the popular prophet currently serving time at Kirikiri Medium Security Correctional centre located in Apapa, Lagos state has no locus for seeking bail after his conviction.

Justice Olabisi Akinlade of an Ikeja High Court in a report monitored by societynow.ng on NAN asserted yesterday, December 15, 2020, that “it is now he is alluding to facts about his alleged state of health now that he has been in custody for barely three weeks.”

“Indeed if his health status truly requires treatment, the correctional centres also have a procedure for referral where an inmate’s health case so demand without the prompting of anyone…

“The convict has not shown any medical records of his illness. Also, he has not been to the prison hospital for treatment. So his appeal can be heard early by the Court of Appeal,”

Ogundipe better known by the name of his ministry “Genesis” (Genesis Global) was convicted for fraud on November 18, 2020, and sentenced to two years in imprisonment – a year each for the counts but to run concurrently – in the case that spanned 13 (Thirteen) years.

Justice Akinlade pointed out that Ogundipe did not raise any issue of ill- health all through the years the trial lasted.

Societynow.ng gathered that the rejection of the bail application has dealt a major blow to the expectations and plans of the prophet’s loyalists and worshipers at his church ahead of Sunday’s harvest.

The annual harvest is usually celebrated like a carnival with attendance by guests from far and near – including visitors from outside the shores of the country.

Insiders disclosed that acting on strong conviction on the efficacy of spiritual power there were already plans to give Ogundipe a rousing welcome.

“Securing bail and partaking in the harvest was meant to soar perception about the spiritual might of the prophet and put his enemies to shame but the turn of event has reversed things and is causing heartbreaks in the ranks of his loyalists” societynow.ng learned.

The information available revealed that the imprisonment has knocked the prophet’s rating and rejection of his bail application worsening things.

“This is how this thing works, people go to Genesis for spiritual help to avoid what is happening and for him to be suffering what people run to him to avert is certainly not helping his image and this what is giving his people heartbreaks and serious cause for concern.” Societynow.ng gathered.

Ogundipe who has a near-cult following home and abroad is the shepherd of Genesis Global – which he built -, a parish of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC).

He has, however, been at logger’s heads with the leadership of the Celestial Church of Christ over issues about discipline and allegations of deviation from the tenets and doctrines of the CCC.
