The Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Tunde Fowler is contending with the good and the bad sides of public life at present.

On one side, some his supporters and sympathizers have kicked off campaign positioning him as the next Governor of the Central Bank.

Incumbent Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele’s time is considered up based on the terms of his appointment.

Societynow.ng gathered that Fowler’s backers are currently embarked on a positive public perception drive that would throw the FIRS boss up as one of the major contenders for the plum CBN position.

Those pushing Fowler for the job are leveraging on what is claimed as ‘’his record-breaking performances’’ as the head of the nation’s tax collection agency.

The quietly intensifying campaign has been on for a couple of days.

The bad side of the just hit Fowler.
Societynow.ng learned the development is threatening all the good things the Fowler for CBN governor campaign is premised on.

Recently the anti-corruption Agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission – EFCC –arrested some top officials of the FIRS.

They were arrested for allegedly diverting about N6billion government in April 2019 and released after spending about 17days in detention.

Peter Henna, an alleged very close aide of Fowler narrowly escaped the arrest and detention because he was out of the country.

Societynow.ng learned that the latest twist is that some persons are now linking Fowler to this development.

The EFCC is said to be attempting to get Fowler for questioning as the investigation into the alleged diversion of government fund continues.

The FIRS Chairman is said to working hard to avoid being ‘’arrested’’ as part of efforts to avoid officially being linked to the crime.
