Talks Of Consensus Candidate Intensify As Amosun’s Candidate & Dapo Abiodun Emerge Winners In Ogun APC Guber Pry

The talks of a consensus gubernatorial candidate in the Ogun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress has intensified.

These developments come as Adekunle Akinlade, the preferred aspirant of Governor Ibikunle Amosun and his estranged friend Dapo Abiodun have emerged winners in parallel APC gubernatorial primary elections held in Ogun state.

Societynow.ng learned the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress declared Dapo Abiodun winner while the state chapter of the party gave Adekunle Akinlade victory.

The state chapter of the party first hit the town with their announcement before the NWC followed up with a conflicting announcement.

“Members are at crossroad over who to believe or follow” a source disclosed.

Digs by societynow.ng revealed the situation festers the conflict which rage in the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state over governor Amosun’s alleged do it all alone approach to government and party issues.

Societynow.ng learned in a move to contain the situation, those who foresaw it have intensified efforts at coming up a consensus candidate of a sort.

“Dapo Abiodun has vowed not to give in to Amosun and the Governor is adamant he won’t back down for his estranged friend. This is not good for a ruling party working hard to retain power, it is creating unnecessary factions as stakeholders take sides and thereby weakening the party ahead of the general elections” a source analysed.
