Yayi is Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the Lagos Senator forced to dump his Ogun state Gubernatorial ambition in the face of ferocious opposition from Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Amosun declared at the height of his opposition to Yayi’s gubernatorial ambition “I know who will not become the next governor of Ogun state!” and it came to pass as Yayi beat a retreat to his primary constituency in bid to remain relevant as Senator representing Lagos West when the heat became too much for him in Ogun state.
Societynow.ng learned when Amosun voiced his opposition against Abiodun’s gubernatorial ambition in Ogun state, the Heyden boss told his supporters “I will show him I am not Yayi”.
And the oilman has shown the governor he is indeed not Yayi.
Abiodun has been announced the winner of the APC gubernatorial primary election recognized by the national body while Governor Amosun’s candidate Adekunle Akinlade was declared the winner of a parallel election by the Ogun state chapter of the APC.
“Obviously, Abiodun has the edge in the scheme of things at present” a source noted.
Societynow.ng learned Dapo Abiodun outwitted Amosun by becoming the rallying point of all those opposed to the growing influence of the Ogun state Governor.

Societynow.ng reported the growing list of powerful figures behind Dapo Abiodu’s ambition well before the gubernatorial primary election.
What was unreported at that time was the information that Amosun’s perceived colleagues in the comity of governors and national leaders of the APC in the southwest were quietly working to clip his wings as one of the favoured eyes and ears of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Societynow.ng learned Amosun is accused of playing the same brand of ‘’do it all alone” politics he does in the state at the national level.

He is widely known to always want things done his way and this most time does not sit well with other players, so taking away his choice of determining who becomes his successor is seen as a major way to reduce Amosun’s political might both in the state and with the president. The development would paint him as just all puff and wind with Buhari and above all create a serious opposition that would see him fighting hard for survival and his claim to fame threatened beyond measures” an insider analyzed.
Societynow.ng gathered that Abiodun backed with huge fund – and influence – his hanging tight to the mandate of gubernatorial candidate bestowed on him by the National Working Committee of the APC while Amosun who is aware of the grave implication of letting the opportunity to determine his successor slip through is fingers is said to be fighting tooth and nail to get the National body his party to validate the result which declared his preferred aspirant, Adekunle Akinlade as winner.
Those who should know however disclosed to societynow.ng that this may prove an uphill task for Amosun because he is engulfed in a stormy fight of influence with the national chairman of his party Adams Oshiomhole.
societynow.ng gathered there is, however, a new twist that may take the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial ticket in Ogun state out of the hands of Amosun and Abiodun in the interest of all.
Societynow.ng learned that some stakeholders have started shopping a consensus gubernatorial candidate that will be acceptable to the two sides in an attempt to contain the fight which has started creating factions and disenchantment amongst party members.
”Division amongst members is not what a ruling party seeking to retain power needs ahead of what promised to be a highly competitive general election judging from the preparation of opposition parties” an insider pointed out.
