Why Dapo Abiodun & Adekunle Akinlade May Not Become “Official” APC Guber Candidate In Ogun State

As the make or mar All Progressives Congress gubernatorial primary election in Ogun state nears, an emerging movement comes with.

Societynow.ng learned those who are concerned about the fierce rivalry between Governor Ibikunle Amosun and estranged friend, Dapo Abiodun for the gubernatorial ticket are pushing for another option.

They are already shopping for a candidate that would be used to broker a compromise in a bid to protect party interests.

Amosun is pushing for his preferred aspirant Adekunle Akinlade to become party candidate, while Dapo Abiodun is working hard to get the gubernatorial ticket for self.

Both sides have vowed to outdo one another in the battle for the Ogun State All Progressives Congress gubernatorial ticket.

Abiodun who is the front person of oil company Heyden has become the rally point for all those fiercely working to take away the political might of Governor Amosun.

The Governor is accused of running a strictly about self-interest government and maintaining an absolute hold on the party’s political structure in Ogun state.

Societynow.ng learned concerned stakeholders now fear that the ‘’fight” is such that it would certainly rage beyond the Saturday, September 29, 2018, APC gubernatorial primary election.

“The success of the general election is at stake because it obvious both sides have staked so much that it appears a do or die matter and the situation looks set for a winner takes all” an insider disclosed.

Societynow.ng learned that obviously trying to avoid a situation where party men would end up working against each other during the general election concerned stakeholders have initiated the ‘’candidate of compromise move”.

“The plan is to avoid the kind of crisis that rocked the then ruling party and gifted Amosun the win that made him become governor” a source disclosed.

The investigation conducted by societynow.ng revealed members of the then ruling People’s Democratic went into the election against Amosun divided over how the party’s gubernatorial candidate emerged.

“We don’t want that history to repeat itself against us” a party source disclosed to societynow.ng.

Information available to societynow.ng revealed that some names are already being bandied about.

Insiders disclosed some of the factors being taken into consideration is the fact that the ”consensus candidate” is not contesting against the two sides during Saturday’s gubernatorial primary election and is well known to the two them.

Societynow.ng learned one of those being considered is related to Dapo Abiodun and is a two-term commissioner in the cabinet of Governor Amosun.

“Nothing is decided yet. The whole thing is still being considered with the aftermath of Saturday’s gubernatorial primary election in view” societynow.ng learned.

Information available has it that the stakeholders are working on the window provided for substitution of candidates after the gubernatorial primary to propose and execute the “peace plan” should things turn worse after Saturday’s election.

Further revelation made to societynow.ng has it Abiodun has refuted allegations he plans to dump the APC and contest on the platform of another party if he loses on Saturday.
