Simple Story Of How Aregbesola & Tinubu Fell Apart

“This is a very delicate and roughly interwoven story that is best told in a simple way to prevent things from worsening and more people from unwittingly becoming pawns, like the two main actors.” SocietyNow.Ng pieced together.

Indications from multiple sources point to a strong weight in favor of the direction that the open fallout between Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his rabid supporter Rauf Aregbesola is the orchestration of “seemingly smaller men” operating in their shadows.

Those pulling the levers of discord want more room and power in the expanding political might of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

To achieve this, “they” need to be as close to the centre of power – Asiwaju Tinubu – as his skin.

They are now silently known as the “hijackers of the power of Tinubu”.

Their tactic is simple. Through deadly whispers and subjective interpretations, they have successively weeded out those who have influence with Tinubu but are a threat to their agenda.

Tinubu and Aregbesola

“They want Asiwaju in their clutches, they want themselves and people who do their biddings to be Asiwaju’s counselors and executors” SocietyNow.Ng.

Different “star boys” of the Asiwaju Tinubu camp have fallen victim to this agenda with Aregbesola playing a major role based on his “blind loyalty” to the political leader.

“Until recently Aregbesola’s rule to politics was very simple, it was whatever Asiwaju says is right. He does the political leader’s biddings with questions asked later, if any.”

This approach to politics made Aregbesola- ignorantly – a very willing tool in the agenda of the “hijackers of power” because all they had to do was convinced Asiwaju and Aregbesola will be put to work against their target.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that this was the game until Aregbesola become Governor of Osun State – and a direct target of the “Hijackers”.

From November 27, 2010, till November 27, 2018, he served as a two-term (of four years each) Governor of Osun state, Aregbesola battled the hijackers to stay “confidant and chief enforcer” of the directives of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the larger scheme of things.

Aregbesola’s play was that his tenure as Governor of Osun state is just a part of his roles in the larger Asiwaju Tinubu political end game, that his primary role was the de-facto number two man (go-to-man) of the political leader but the “hijackers” worked passionately against that.

That he had late Senator Bayo Osinowo the grassroots politician widely known as “Pepper” or “Pepperito” in his corner helped him to troubleshoot many of the issues raised against him with Tinubu but he couldn’t surmount the odds of allegations of power-mongering or intentional positioning to inherit the structure of the influential politician – as well as warming up to powerful northern blocs as a possible presidential candidate.

But Senator Pepper who was loved by both Tinubu and Aregbesola calmed the storm till he died in June 2020.

Late Senator Pepper

“The thing is that it wasn’t about whether the allegations were correct or not, but it how they were planted and fanned to the point of creating the wedge that created actions that made Tinubu act and Aregbesola is reacting in a manner that is shredding all that held them close. And to compound things, Senator Pepper who worked hard to calm the rising storm died” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

SocietyNow.Ng learned Asiwaju reasoned with the claims that Aregbesola cannot be Governor in Osun state and retain status as kingmaker in Lagos State. He took steps that virtually rendered his perceived number two man powerless, politically in Lagos.

“Opportunities that were ordinarily given to Aregbesola’s known associates and loyalists were denied. And it got worse for the Aregbesola when he was denied the chance to choose a preferred successor in Osun and his number one enemy in the state (Iyiola Omisore) was nominated for the ministerial slot he felt was his due. Aregbesola activated influences that outplayed Asiwaju’s and got him the Ministerial ticket” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the move by Aregbesola that earned him the Ministerial appointment was used to “seal” his fate with Asiwaju by the “hijackers”.

Aregbesola and Oyetola

“From then it was a chess game of how to match and outwit between both sides with who becomes the next Governor of Osun state as the immediate prize and re-election seeking Governor Oyetola (Gboyega) leading the war against his predecessor, Aregbesola on home turf” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

The objective was as it happened in Lagos, to take away his political power – a move fueled by Aregbesola’s repeated attempts to entrench himself as the “political power” in Osun state against the background of the “takeout” in Lagos.

“But one thing is clear, both the hijackers and Asiwaju didn’t expect Aregbesola to blow the war into the open as he did over the weekend. It caught everybody by surprise that Aregbesola the most loyal of soldiers to Tinubu would take such a step against the political leader and the whole structure. Though the handwritings were on the wall it still came out as shocking” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered the “handwritings were on the wall’ because the “hijackers” not only went after Aregbesola, they did everything to take away all that he spent about “30years” tirelessly to build – his political liaison with Tinubu started in 1992 when he helped the political leader became the winner of a Senatorial election by the widest margin ever – and Aregbesola is angrily fighting back against them and his willing political mentor with the same intent.

Added information has it that moves are being made to at “reconciliation” before an embittered Aregbesola who was embedded at the center of the rise of the Tinubu political might crumbles everything on all stakeholders.
