Senior police officers have been deployed to handle the security situation in Kogi state.

This development is in response to heightened security concerned in the state as a result of the killing of a policeman this morning.

A policeman escorting voting materials was reportedly shot dead in Okene.

The development increased tension in the state already fraught with arrests and political attacks ahead of today’s general election.

Senior police officers were reportedly hurriedly deployed to contain the situation as the election gets underway.

The police have refused to comment on the reports of the shot dead policeman
