Revealed!… Asiwaju Tinubu’s Position As Pressure Mounts Over Who Becomes New Lagos King, Oniru
Societynow.ng gathered that Powerful politician Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is tilted towards Prince Adesegun Abiodun better known as Aremo Oniru becoming his father’s successor as the next Oniru of Iru Land, in Victoria Island Lagos State.
Insiders disclosed that this development is against mounting opposition from powerful figures led by the Oba of Lagos Oba Rilwan Akiolu.
Young monarch Oba Elegushi is fingered as one of those opposed to Aremo Oniru emerging the new king of Iru land but his spokesperson Tope Oyefeso in a recent chat insists there is nothing of such.
Oyefeso says Oba Elegushi is staying away from the process that would determine the new king of Iru land because of closeness to the leading contenders.
Aremo Oniru and Prince Ajasa are the leading contenders to the throne.
Asiwaju Tinubu is said to be tilted to supporting Aremo Oniru who is a very close confidant and a senior member of his political family to clinch the crown.
‘’But like he always does, Asiwaju Tinubu is seeking means to compensate Ajasa and his backers for peace to reign after the deed is done’’ societynow.ng learned.
Checks by societynow.ng revealed that should Aremo Oniru secure the throne, he would be the third generation – back to back – from his immediate family that will wear the crown of Iruland, contrary to arrangements of old.
‘’The crux of the matter is that if the choice is a king with clout, affluence and a big say that would retain the supremacy status of the king of Iru land as the leader of the Idejo and all the white cap chiefs Aremo Oniru fits bill but if that should be conceded and arrangements of old rotating the crown among the ruling houses upheld Ajasa is the man to wear the crown’’ societynow.ng learned.
According to checks, the crown of Iru land is the most senior among the regions in Lagos state. The wearer is the head of the powerful Idejo and leader of all traditional institutions in charge of deep-rooted culture activities and related practices.
Insiders, however, insist that as it stands, Aremo Oniru looks primed to take the crown with the support of Asiwaju Tinubu, despite opposition from Oba of Lagos and the band of supporters backing prince Ajasa.
