An insider says it is wrong to say young monarch Oba Ademola Saheed Elegushi is taking sides in who becomes the next King of Iru Land.

‘’Oba Elegushi is not backing anybody’’ Tope Oyefeso, the Spokesperson for the popular king of Ikate- Elegushi stated expressly and provided background.

Oyefeso explained that the two front runners for the throne Princes Akeem Ajasa and Adesegun Abiodun better known as Aremo Oniru are well known to Oba Elegushi and share close ties with him.

‘’Oba Elegushi was friend and schoolmate with Prince Ajasa at LASU (Lagos State University ) while Aremo ( Prince Abiodun) is a good egbon (elder brother), because of this Oba Elegushi cannot afford to take sides. He is just waiting for the process to be concluded and the chosen to be announced by the State Government’’ Oyefeso explained.

Oyefeso emphasized that Oba Elegushi is not interfering in the process to determine the new Oniru of Iru land.

The image handler provided a narrative that shows Oba Elegushi has found himself in the middle of the struggle between an elder brother that he is fond of –Aremo Oniru –  and his good friend – Ajasa – in the race to determine the next King of Iru land.

‘’He can’t afford to take sides because of this’’ Oyefeso asserted.

The coveted stool of Iru Land became vacant with the passage of Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru in September 2019.

Two princes have emerged front runners to the throne – Prince Adesegun Abiodun, the eldest son of the immediate past Oniru better known as Aremo Oniru and Akeem Ajasa.

The emergence of the two contenders has resulted in interesting twists and turns that include alleged adoption and disowning of candidates – and strongly-worded statements backing either side by their supporters.
