Former Governor of Ogun State Otunba Gbenga Daniel has listed some of the germane steps that should revamp the economy and set Nigeria on the steps to greatness – once again.

The former Governor disclosed that lavish salaries of political office holders should be reduced.

“The salaries of the legislators, both the legislators and the Executive should be reduced” Daniel who is fondly hailed as OGD by his supporters declared in an interview with IATV monitored by societynow.ng.

Daniel who disclosed that he has limited his benefits after office as a governor to his salary when he was in power – Five hundred thousand Naira –asserted that the practice of building houses and buying cars and related luxury as after office perks for political office holders should be scrapped.

He made a passionate case for the “culture of wastefullness” to be stopped.

OGD also asserted that the nation should consume only what it produces.

‘We should only consume what we produce that way we grow our industries” he stated.

Daniel whose 8-years administration as Governor of Ogun state opened up the economy of the state further advised that jobs that can be done by Nigerians should not be outsourced.

The former governor asserted only jobs that cannot be handled by Nigerians should be given to foreigners.

He cited the cause of Saudi Arabi where oil blocs are not given to non natives.

The move will help to prevent capital flight.

He explained that these were the steps taken by China and others that transformed them into world power and Nigeria should embrace the same while harping on the need to stop ramping up the nation’s indebtedness to other countries.
