The members of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state deeply dread the emergence of Governor Ibikunle Amosun as the Senator representing Ogun Central.

And the reason for this is simple.

Though he retains membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Governor Amosun’s die – hard followers are already in the Allied People’s Movement(APM).

‘’And a victory for Amosun would greatly boost their chances of victory in the subsequent election, especially in the gubernatorial election’’ a source stated and analyzed ‘’If he wins, Amosun would be heavily emboldened to focus on winning the gubernatorial election for Akinlade as well as cornering a larger percentage of the state house of Assembly seats for APM’’

APM is the political platform the governor’s preferred successor, Adekunle Akinlade and other Amosun fanatically followers are using to prosecute their political ambition.

The Amosun die-hards moved out of APC after denial of party tickets by the national leadership of the party in the lost battle to deny Dapo Abiodun the APC gubernatorial ticket in Ogun state.

The governor had blatantly deployed own personal – as well as state’s – resources in mobilizing support for the gubernatorial ambition of Akinlade at the expense of own party’s gubernatorial candidate Dapo Abiodun.

‘’A win for Amosun in the Senatorial election would naturally dampen the APC members morale and buoyed that of the APM’s because the governor would have proven he remains a master of the game in Ogun politics while retaining the influence of his position to favor the candidates of his choice’’ a source stated.

Societynow.ng gathered the APC members opposed to Amosun’s agenda are already campaigning that followers boycott the Senatorial election in Ogun Central in order to make Amosun lose in the bid to create a chain reaction that would rub off on APM candidates contesting other elective positions, particularly the gubernatorial election.

Societynow.ng gathered that the campaign against Amosun is a bit popular though whether it translates into reality on election day in the face of the governor’s counter strategy of ‘’appreciating’’ stakeholders ahead the general election remains to be seen.
