Push For Daniel, Abiodun To Reconcile Ahead Remo Rep By-Election Intensifies
embroiled in a political face-off
Sources insist that efforts to reconcile Senator Gbenga Daniel and Governor Dapo Abiodun have intensified.
The two leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have been embroiled in a political face-off since 2019, after Abiodun assumed office.
Insiders disclosed that the reconciliation move is aimed at getting them to intentionally work together to help the APC retain the Remo Federal House of Representatives seat.

A by-election for the area—officially known as the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency—is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2024.
The APC faces a strong challenge from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), led in Ogun State by Ladi Adebutu, who commands one of the most influential political structures in the state.
Daniel, Abiodun, and Adebutu all hail from the Remo Federal Constituency.
Adebutu appears determined to ensure that the PDP takes over the seat vacated by the late Adewunmi Onanuga, an APC chieftain.
“The belief is that despite his status as Governor, Abiodun needs all the help he can get to stop Adebutu and the PDP—and Daniel can help him do that,” sources say.

Daniel, a former two-term Governor of Ogun State and the incumbent Senator representing Ogun East, leads what is widely considered the second most vibrant political group in the area.
However, he remains at odds with Abiodun over claims that the Governor wants to unseat him as Senator for Ogun East in 2027.
“From the look of things, stakeholders are setting aside their quarrels and pleading with both men to work together,” insiders insist.
Checks revealed that Daniel may require more convincing, especially since the APC candidate for the by-election, Sola Ayoola-Elegbeji, is a loyalist of Governor Abiodun.
The push for reconciliation is seen as critical because Adebutu and the PDP are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to reclaim the seat. The party has adopted a better-known candidate, Oluwole Bolarinwa, to bolster its chances.
