Popular Reps Candidate Accused Of Dodging Media
as he continues direct engagements with constituents
There is an emerging gist in the political circle of Ogun State.
A popular Federal House of Representatives candidate, Olumide Aderinokun is said to be dodging the media.
Aderinokun is the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Ogun Central in the upcoming general election.
SocietyNow.Ng’s checks revealed that, based on talks on the streets, Aderinokun is the front-runner candidate despite having to contend with Shaib Salisu Afolabi, a favorite of incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun as main opponent.
Salisu Afolabi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ogun Central senatorial is the immediate past Chief of Staff to Governor Abiodun and is labeled one of the powerful figures in the administration in charge of the affairs of Ogun State.
“But Aderinokun has run a fantastic campaign that has made him the more popular candidate on the streets in the senatorial race but for the emerging claims of dodging media engagements” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
Media people, particularly in the Journalists chapel, are said to be complaining of the candidate’s penchant for turning down invitations to speak on his ambition – answer the hard questions that will help the public gauge him better.
Some of these claims have started finding their way into social media.
Those who should know disclosed that the House of Representatives candidate has not addressed the claims as he continues direct engagements with constituents to increase his popularity barely three weeks before the 2023 election.
SocietyNow.Ng further learned that Aderinokun’s popularity is buoyed by increasing claims that supporters of outgoing Senator Ibikunle Amosun are backing him to take over.
“Amosun is at odds with Abiodun. Their deep-seethed quarrel resulted in the takeover of the APC structure in Ogun state by Abiodun. It forced Amosun’s men to adopt ADC (African Democratic Congress) as the political platform for the 2023 election. The ADC does not have a senatorial candidate in Ogun Central. Aggrieved members of the Amosun political family and their sympathizers are reportedly backing Aderinokun to defeat Salisu, a top member in the Abiodun camp” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
