Biyi Otegbeye, the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun state has declared that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the senatorial flag bearer of Ogun West for the All Progressives Congress (APC) popularly known as “Yayi” is not his enemy.

Otegebeye who is the preferred candidate of Senator Ibikunle Amosun as the next Governor of Ogun state made the declaration while campaigning in Oja Odan, Yewa part of Ogun West on Saturday.

Otegbeye and Yayi are from Yewa part of Ogun State.

Otegbeye told supporters in Oja Odan “Myself and Yayi are not enemies. Yayi is contesting to be Senator, I am contesting to be Governor..They are two different things. We will vote for Yayi and thank God we don’t have a senatorial candidate in ADC (for the 2023 election) and we will vote Otegbeye. We must all act as true born and vote Otegbeye to be governor. There is no division among us for this election and we must stay united and not work against our interest”

Otegbeye based his position on the historic feat of breaking a 47year old jinx of being the only gubernatorial candidate from Ogun west for the 2023 election in Ogun state.

Yewa remains the only political zone in Ogun state that has not produced a Governor since it was created on February 3, 1976.

The zone has always thrown up multiple candidates on different political platforms in a move that further weakened its chances as a minority area until now.

Otegbeye’s campaign on Saturday canvassed for the harmonization of the different interests across political parties in Yewa to back him as the historic singular gubernatorial candidate from the area for the 2023 election.

Yayi who is an incumbent Senator in Lagos West has emerged as the frontrunner candidate for the senatorial seat of Ogun West and a major force behind the re-election of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the gubernatorial candidate of the APC for the 2023 governorship election in Ogun State.

“Getting Yayi’s supporters to back him in the attempt to break the Yewa gubernatorial jinx will be pivotal in the race to determine the next governor of Ogun State” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Aside from keying into the age-long yearning of the Yewa people to produce the Governor of Ogun state to harness the support of the communities, Otegbeye also leveraged the insecurity ravaging parts of the area to solicit votes with promises to ensure he puts an end to the anomaly as a stakeholder.

Otegbeye urged the people of Yewa to back him as the next Governor of Ogun state by seizing the once in a 47year opportunity of having the sole gubernatorial candidate from the area.
