Emerging details have it that a high-level plan is in progress.

Sources disclosed that the plan is to replace the name Femi Gbajabiamila preferred as his successor in the Federal House of Representatives.

Gbajabiamila, a former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives resigned from the National Assembly, as Representative of Surulere Constituency 1, after securing another term in office to become the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Information here and there revealed that backed by the influence of his new office, Gbajabiamila was able to get firm commitments that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would nominate his preferred choice, Fuad Laguda – the Chairman of APC in Surulere Local Government and a staunch ally – as successor in the House of Representatives.

But those in the know say it appears that the decision is about to be upturned with a new name bandied about town.

Raheem Owokoniran is touted as the new candidate of the party for the House of Representatives seat vacated by Gbajabiamila.

Owokoniran is said to have the backing of a power player in the Presidency closer to President Bola Tinubu – and a stronger personal relationship – than Gbajabiamila.

“It is this person who is pulling strings for Owokoniran to replace Laguda as APC candidate to replace Gbajabiamila and the influence at play is such that many are already falling into line” according to insiders.
