Ladi Adebutu has tagged Governor Dapo Abiodun and his team as “placeholders in the government of Ogun State”.

Adebutu made the declaration in response to the two-to-one Court of Appeal Judgement that affirmed the victory of Abiodun.

Two of the Appeal Court justices that gave the judgement dismissed the claims of Adebutu while the third justice dissented and declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should organize a rerun within 90 days in the 92 polling units where the election was canceled over violence and malpractice.

Dapo Abiodun won the gubernatorial election with less than 14,000 votes more than Adebutu’s.

Adebutu stated that he would take the “legal battle to the top of the ladder” and declared that, ” it should be crystal clear to the placeholders in the government of Ogun State that they need not rejoice over anything as what they enjoy now is temporal and can not last because the truth will still prevail”.

The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election spoke through a statement released by his spokesperson, Afolabi Orekoya.

The statement expressed great optimism with the assertion that “we could gladly see that true justice is on the way and the hope of reclaiming the mandate of the good people of Ogun state is drawing nearer”.

To supporters. Adebutu directed “Your tenacity and unwavering faith in our cause has continued to replenish our strength even as we continue this battle to reclaim our mandate. As we continue this legal battle to the top of the ladder, please remain steadfast, the truth will ultimately prevail, and the will of the people will be acknowledged.”
