After barely a year and four months in office, Iyiola Omisore has resigned as the powerful National Secretary of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Omisore, a former Deputy Governor of Osun state abruptly left office on Monday, July 17, along with APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu.

They both tendered their resignations in circumstances decorated with different colors speculations and have been replaced.

While Abubakar Kyari takes over as acting National Chairman, Festus Fuanter- Omisore’s deputy – is the new National Secretary.

Interesting, Fuanter was a part of Omisore’s last outing as the National Secretary of the APC.

Omisore, 65, led the National Working Committee of the APC to Ondo state on Friday, July 14, 2023 – barely 3 days to his ouster from office.

On Omisore’s team were Deputy National Secretary of the party, Barr Festus Fuanter, National Vice Chairman North Central, Hon Muhammad Bawa Rijau, National Vice Chairman, SouthWest, Hon Isaac Kekemeke.

They were received by Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa who was flanked by Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale, Former Minister of State for Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, State Executive Council Members, House of Assembly Members and Members Ondo State APC working committee.

Aiyedatiwa is the Deputy Governor is in charge of the affairs of Ondo state while Governor Rotimi Akeredolu recuperates abroad.

Omisore’s last outing to Ondo state the as APC National Publicity Secretary is believed to be part of efforts to align interests ahead of the 2024 gubernatorial election to determine who succeeds Governor Akeredolu.
