Osun Guber: ADC To Pick “Formidable Candidate” From Adeleke’s Base
Aregbesola, commended members for their loyalty and commitment
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State has announced plans to present a single, formidable governorship aspirant from the Osun West Senatorial District — the home base of incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke — ahead of its December 12 primaries.
The decision was revealed on Sunday, November 2, 2025, during the November meeting of the “Omoluabi Progressives,” the state’s leading political movement, held in Ilesa. The meeting attracted a large turnout of stakeholders from all 332 electoral wards across the state.
The gathering also featured the formal reception of new members from different political divides, including the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as the return of some former members of the defunct “The Osun Progressives (TOP)” to the fold.

Addressing the meeting, former Interior Minister and National Secretary of the ADC, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, commended members for their loyalty and commitment to rebuilding the progressive structure in the state. He disclosed that the apex body of Omoluabi Progressives had resolved to rally behind one candidate from Osun West to show unity and political strength ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
According to him, “Our collective decision is to field a single, formidable aspirant from Osun West for the December 12 primaries — one who embodies the ideals of competence, integrity, and unity that our people can rally behind. This is how we demonstrate seriousness and strength as a party ready to lead again.”
Also in attendance was the ADC Membership Mobilisation, Revalidation and Registration Committee led by Hon. Kamil Akinlabi Mudashir, which earlier paid a courtesy visit to Aregbesola.

The committee urged members to participate actively in the forthcoming membership registration exercise to strengthen the party’s structure statewide.
Chairman of Omoluabi Progressives, Alhaji Issa Adesiji Azeez, appreciated members for their steadfastness and called for full participation in the upcoming party congresses and constituency tours in preparation for what he described as “a determined march to victory” in 2026.
The Membership Revalidation, Registration and Mobilisation Committee also includes Barr. Gbenga Akano as Secretary, alongside Mojeet Adeyemi, Abideen Okandeji, Ayoola Ige, Femi Adedokun, Hon. Sikiru Ayedun, Gbove Laveola, Aina Ogundare, Sola Adeoye, and Hon. Abdulhakeem Olaoye.
The statement was signed by Abosede Busayo Oluwaseun, Publicity and Organizing Secretary of the Omoluabi Progressives.
