Army Takes Medical Outreach To Inner Kwara

The Nigerian Army, on Saturday, 26 September 2026, took its Day Four medical outreach to Ilemona Community in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

In his welcome address, the Secretary of the Ilemona Descendants Progressive Union, Pastor Folorunsho Banji, commended the Nigerian Army for the gesture towards members of the Ilemona community. He pledged the continued support of the community to the Nigerian Army in its efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities in Kwara South.

The medical outreach is a continuation of the Department of Civil-Military Affairs’ medical outreach programme in Kwara South. The initiative is being conducted as part of the Nigerian Army’s non-kinetic activities aimed at strengthening civil-military relations and providing essential medical support to communities.

In his opening remarks, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaib, represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Major General Musa Awwal Etsu-Ndagi, appreciated the Chairman of the Ilemona Descendants Progressive Union, Honourable Richard Agboola, for attending the outreach alongside a large number of religious leaders, high chiefs and members of the community.

Major General Etsu-Ndagi also expressed appreciation to the people of Ilemona for their continued support to the Nigerian Army. He urged them to sustain the support by providing timely and credible information that could assist the Nigerian Army in responding swiftly to criminal activities within their communities.

The medical outreach provided free medical services to over 600 beneficiaries. The services included medical consultations, dental treatment, counselling, laboratory services, general medical check-ups, free medications and the distribution of mosquito nets.

In his remarks, His Royal Majesty, Oba Colonel Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf Fiwadade Ilufemiloye Oyekan II, represented by the Chairman of the Ilemona Descendants Progressive Union, Honourable Richard Agboola, thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaib, for choosing Ilemona Community as a beneficiary of the outreach. He described the initiative as a timely intervention that would provide members of the community with access to free medical services.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the establishment of new divisions and battalions in Kwara State, noting that the development would further strengthen security operations in the state. He assured the Nigerian Army of the community’s readiness to work closely with the military to ensure victory over banditry and other criminal elements in the state.

The Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, alongside the Chairman of the Ilemona Descendants Progressive Union and Princess Fausat Yusuf, also conducted the symbolic administration of deworming medication to three children aged three years and below.

Other dignitaries at the event included high chiefs, community leaders, Navy Captain LK Jimoh (Rtd), Colonel Oladele Babajamu (Rtd), and Major Sam Adewumi (Rtd), among others.
