Official, Ladi Adebutu, 60, is back as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the race to determine the next Governor of Ogun State.

Adebutu and all candidates of the PDP in Ogun state for the 2023 election were returned to the ballot in an updated list by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

This development is the result of an Appeal Court judgment that set aside the Federal High Court Judgment that knocked off Adebutu and other candidates of the PDP from participating in the upcoming election.

Checks by SocietyNow.Ng revealed that while the battle to return to the ballot raged in the court, Adebutu appeared “unshaken” and continued to meet with stakeholders in preparation for the election.

“He carried on with a steely resolve despite the threat of a repeat of the 2019 scenario” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The 2019 scenario was a legal fight between Adebutu and the late Kashamu Buruji over who was the authentic candidate of the PDP for the 2019 gubernatorial election. The fight went right to the wire with Kashamu emerging as the winner barely days to the day of the election.

The information available to SocietyNow.Ng revealed that what fueled Adebutu’s resolve to slug it out with Kashamu in 2019 and fueling his unrelenting approach in 2022 is the passionate support of his father, the lottery mogul and widely respected deep pocket – Sir Kessignton Adebutu.

“Without taking points from his efforts and contributions, his father is his biggest supporter and financier” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Sir Kessington Adebutu, 87, is a very decorated man of means whose celebrations attract recognition as high as the Presidency.

He is most popular as a casino and lottery King.

His lottery company, Premier Lotto, better known as “Baba Ijebu” on the streets is acknowledged as a pathfinder and definition of economic gains obtainable in the sphere of business.

According to those in the know, the strength of Sir Adebutu’s push for his son to become the Governor of Ogun state is in how long the ambition has been nurtured.

The journey reportedly started as far back as 1992 when Ladi Adebutu at age 30 won election to represent the People of Remo federal constituency on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) at the National Assembly.

With the backing of the clout and the influence of his father, he has over the years grown in politics – getting appointments and winning elections – to become the singular power in charge of the mainstream opposition party in Ogun state.

“The passion of Sir Adebutu’s support for his son’s gubernatorial ambition is such that insiders insist if he was a young man, he would be the one on the ballow. The support is massive” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

On his part, the younger Adebutu fondly called Lado by fans and loyalists is said to be keen to redeem the trust repose by all the stakeholders who have bought into his gubernatorial dream, particularly his father.
