Muiz Banire, the former Legal Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress says there is no longer any sense of right or wrong in Nigeria.

Banire who served as the Chairman of Assets Management Company – he was replaced before his tenure fully ended – asserted that the country is on a moral down and the situation needs to be addressed to save the nation.

‘’We need to come up with a minimum national ethos’’ Banire proffered while speaking on an interactive – monitored by societynow.ng -anchored by Monsurat Tolani on Radio state, Eko F.M this afternoon – Thursday, June 2, 2020.

Banire was speaking on the rising numbers of cases and sexual assault cases in Nigeria and way out when he made the assertions about ‘’No longer any sense of right and wrong in Nigeria’’.

The Senior lawyer insisted that parts of the causes for the increased numbers of rapes and sexual assaults are not giving children sex education at home and in schools and the abundance of nudity and pornographic materials in the society.

He advocated for harsh punishment for offenders and a stop to negotiations between perpetrators and offenders either directly or through proxies.

Banire insisted that the negotiation has been abused and turned into a tool for perpetrators to take advantage of offenders with ridiculous compensations.

The former Commissioner – in Lagos state – also advocated for a review of the law concerning incest (the sexual relationship between persons too closely related to marry).

According to the connected politician, greater attention needs to be paid to this form of sexual abuse that is on the rise, with firmer legislation.
