Multiplied Trouble For Amosun In Bid To Determine Successor As NLC Stages “National Protest” Over Bad Treatment Meted Out To Workers Days To Election

The troubles confronting Ibikunle Amosun, the governor of Ogun state his bid to determine his success just multiplied.

Societynow.ng confirmed that the Nigeria Labour Congress has scheduled a national protest against the governor barely a week to the make or mar gubernatorial and state house of assembly election.

Amosun is fighting hard to install his preferred candidates on the bill of rival Allied People’s Movement (APM) against the interest of his party the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The governor has already embarked on a full blast campaign for his preferred successor Adekunle Akinlade after becoming a Senator-Elect on the platform of APC in a national assembly election APM recorded dismissal performance.

Amosun’s attempt to wipe up support for Akinlade and the APM ahead the March 9 gubernatorial, however, faces a major stumbling block as national leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress take him on.

Beginning from Friday, March 1 has scheduled national protests that will highlight the bad treatment the Amosun administration has meted out to workers.

‘’The implication of this is devastating obvious to Amosun’s campaign for Akinlade and the APM. The protest would be more crippling than any other strategy those against Amosun can dream up’’ a source pointed out.

Societynow.ng gathered that workers make up a very large percentage of voters in Ogun state.

The notice sent out by the NLC leadership to mobilize workers reads

‘’As a result of pending Labour issues btw organized Labour and Ogun State Govt, the National Administrative Council (NAC) of the Nigeria Labour Congress led by Come. AYUBA WABBA will be leading Workers on a National Protest in Ogun State (Abeokuta) from Friday 1st March, 2019 to address the underlisted issues
1) Unpaid 15 months Cooperatives deductions from workers’ salaries
2) Collection of fees for housing and car from workers’ without making provision for such facilities
3) Dismissal of NLC State Chairman, Cmr Ambali Akeem and some other Labour Leaders in the State
4) Maltreatment of TASCE Staff, Dismissal of Union Executives and suspension of Union Activities at TASCE, Omu Ijebu;
5) Non payment of Contributing Pension Schemes, up to 107 months as at Jan. 2019
6)Non payment of Leave Bonus for 4yrs
7) Gratuities among other issues.
By this, you are requesting to join the NLC National Leadership and Special Team from Southwest in the Protest to force the Govt to address these issues once and for all. Let us prepare the ground for this protest with full mobilization.’’
