Meet Two Top Female Bankers Suffering Mistaken Identities

There are two leading female bankers who are suffering cases of mistaken identities.

Though they work at different places with radically different roles and positions they are usually interchanged for each other – especially in reports here and there.

They are Aisha Ahmad and Miriam Olusanya.

Ahmad is a Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) while Olusanya is the new Managing Director at GTBank the banking subsidiary of GTco (Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc).

Olusanya who joined GTBank as an executive trainee in 1998 rose to the position of Director in 2018 and was appointed the first female Managing Director in July 2022.

On her part, Ahmad replaced Sarah Alade as Deputy Governor in the Central Bank of Nigeria on October 6, 2017.

The CBN Deputy Governor whose appointment was confirmed by the Senate on March 22, 2018, was the Head Consumer Banking & Investment at Diamond Bank before taking up the new role.

Diamond Bank was acquired by Access Bank in December 2018.

While Olusanya is a graduate of Pharmacy from the University of Ibadan and possess a Master of Business Administration from the University of Liverpool, Ahmad holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja, Master of Business Administration, majoring in finance from the University of Lagos as well as a Master of Science degree in Finance and Management, awarded by the Cranfield School of Management in the United Kingdom.

Aisha Ahmad also known as “Nee Ndanusa” was at different points in her career head of Retail Banking at Zenith Bank Plc, Head of Private Banking at NAL Bank Plc (trading as Sterling Bank), and has also served as the head of business development at Zenith Capital Limited with oversea experiences thrown into the bargain.
