Aregbesola’s admission that “God, Tinubu, and (Muhammadu) Buhari” are responsible for his success and declaration that he holds “no grudge” at the homecoming reception in his honor is believed to be in line with what is to come.

Before things went south, Aregbesola was the second most powerful person- after Tinubu – in the formidable political family of the former governor of Lagos state.

Aregbesola’s homecoming

“Aregbesola was Tinubu’s voice and ears and had unhindered access to the political leader anywhere, even in his home” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Insiders disclosed that their closeness started going adrift when it was consistently whispered into Tinubu’s ears that Aregbesola as Governor of Osun state was nurturing personal agenda in forging a rapport with then President Jonathan Goodluck – and some northern power brokers.

“Though Aregbesola overcame that chapter, that was when the seeds of discord that germinated and became virile when it was time to decide his successor as Governor of Osun state was planted, the same discord that led to where they are ” according to those in the know.

…When the going was good.

Although Aregbesola eventually supported Tinubu to make Gboyega Oyetola his successor – it was an ending political fight between them all through Oyetola’s single term of four years.

The unending political fight consumed Oyetola’s ambition to get a second term in office with the refusal of Aregbesola- the Minister of Interior – to campaign for him said to play a major role. He also refused to campaign for Tinubu to become President of Nigeria.

Although Oyetola lost his re-election, Tinubu is the incumbent President of Nigeria.
