The election to determine the next governor of Ekiti state is scheduled for Saturday, July 14, 2018.

And president Muhammadu Buhari’s party- All Progressives Congress – is in a fierce struggled to wrestle power from outgoing Governor Ayodele Fayose and his People’s Democratic Party.

But there appears to be a spiraling out of control trouble in the APC just days to the make or mar gubernatorial election.

Candidate Kayode Fayemi – a former Governor of the state – is accused of heavily sideling Segun Oni, the aspirant who came second in the shadow election that determined the party’s flag bearer and all his followers in campaign activities.

Insiders claim that the implication of this is that Fayemi does not intend to accommodate Oni and his supporters if he wins the July 14 gubernatorial election.

Oni is also a former Governor of Ekiti state and defected from the rival People’s Democratic Party.

Societynow.ng gathered that Oni’s supporters have refused to take Fayemi’s antics laying low.

They are crying out for all to hear

In a recent public statement, Oni’s supporters claim “It has become more worrisome that the Fayemi group has continued its acts of marginalization, maltreatment, harassment, and intimidation of our members at our party rallies.

“Rather than seeing and treating Segun Oni and his group as partners in the quest for a resounding victory for our great party, APC in the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti, the JKFCO has been nursing the fleeting illusion that they could do it without the Segun Oni and his group who shall therefore be put in the cooler for the four-year tenure of Fayemi”.

According to the statement signed by Ife Arowosoge, the Ekiti Gubernatorial candidate has already shared positions at stake to own supporters before winning the election.

Oni is said to have initiated a court action that seeks to make him Governor if Fayemi wins the gubernatorial upcoming gubernatorial election.

He is challenging Fayemi’s eligibility as APC candidate for the election.

Checks by societynow.ng revealed that the raging conflict is certainly not helping morale with the APC.

“It is painting Fayemi as a man out for the gains of self and his die-hard supporters and making other chieftains and their supporters to be wary at a time they need to be resolute in their support for his ambition” a source pointed out.

Societynow.ng gathered Governor Fayose who is keen to make his deputy Olusola Eleka his successor is naturally compounding the situation by making overtures to “aggrieved APC” supporters – while clandestinely making his supporters blow the conflict between Fayemi and Oni’s camp out of proportion.

“The intention is to further demoralize APC supporters while at the same time attempting to make the party and it’s candidate as unpopular as possible with the electorates” a source pointed out.
