Ekiti Guber: Former Senatorial Aspirant Beats Ex-Deputy Gov To Become PDP Group’s Candidate

Ajibola Lateef, a former Senatorial aspirant has beaten former Deputy Governor Sikiru Tai Lawal by a landslide to become the preferred candidate of a faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Ekiti state gubernatorial election.


Ajibola scored 50 votes while Lawal polled just 4 votes in a shadow election held on Friday, September 3, 2021.


Another gubernatorial aspirant Yinka Akerele scored 26 votes in the election held in the state capital Ado-Ekiti.


Speaking on his victory in the mock election conducted by the PDP Repositioning group, Ajibola in a report monitored by societynow.ng on dailypost.ng stated that “The election of today is about a particular group, there are quite a number of groups within the rank and files of the PDP, I’m not against any candidate coming out, but the truth of the matter is that majority will still carry the day. So, we are going to talk, they are our brothers, we are of the same family, I believe God will choose for us the next Governor of Ekiti State, and I pray it’s me.”
