Although the maiden edition of Remo Day was held on Friday, December 27, 2024, talking points are far from over.

One of the highlights of the annual celebration of the spirit of culture, unity, rich heritage, and togetherness of the people of Remoland is said to be the potshots exchanged between the camps of Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Gbenga Daniel.

The two chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are embroiled in a long-running open rift.

Both honored their heritage by attending the event at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu, the venue of Remo Day.

However, the eminent sons of Remoland and their supporters did not set aside their differences.

The snide innuendos, remarks, and open gestures against each other by the political leaders and their camps added fun to the festival, according to those in the know.

Witnesses say that although things did not get confrontational between the two sides, they poked fun at each other’s expense, much to the merriment of onlookers.

“It was all fun. It was obvious the political leaders are not on good terms, and they had plenty of their supporters on the ground, but there were no tense moments—just the usual derisive jokes by their followers,” according to those present.

The event, which attracted high-profile personalities from far and near, had the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, as Chairman and Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, as one of the special guests.
