How Ex-Gov Ambode’s Largesse Sparked Off Crisis Engulfing Speaker Obasa In Lagos Assembly

Details available to societynow.ng revealed that the crisis engulfing the Lagos State House of Assembly has roots in the fund released to the legislative body by former governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Societynow.ng gathered that the fund was meant for the provision of back up cars for the members of the immediate past 8th Assembly.

Information at hand revealed that non-release of the fund – a constitutional provision – was one of the main reasons for the Assembly’s running battle with Ambode.

‘’But the former governor eventually released the fund towards the end of his administration, this during last election’s campaign and the members opted to take cash in place of vehicles but the Speaker refused to do such’’ societynow.ng

Insiders disclosed that the manner the Speaker got the stipulated vehicles is one of the major – immediate – causes of the crisis rocking the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The alleged circumstances that surround the acquisition and sharing of the vehicles – back up cars – form the basis of lead allegations of N300million fraud against the speaker in the petition sent by vested interests to anti-corruption agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
