Hope Uzodinma Gets New Appointment

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has been appointed to co-chair the National Economic Council Committees alongside Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

They will lead the Economic Affairs and Crude Oil Theft and Management Committees, as announced by Vice President Kashim Shettima during the 138th virtual NEC meeting.

The committees’ responsibilities include devising strategies for addressing petroleum subsidy, wage negotiations, exchange rate management, fiscal consolidation sustainability, liquidity management, inflation, medium-term investment and growth, fiscal transparency, accountability, and a state of emergency on food production for 2024.

Governor AbdulRazaq currently chairs the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, while Governor Uzodimma heads the Progressive Governors Forum. The committee members and their respective regions were also outlined in the statement, with Rukaiya El-Rufai serving as Secretary.
