All eyes are on Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State as the burial of former Senator Kashamu Buruji gets underway.

Buruji who died of complications from Covid-19 on Saturday, August 8, 2020, is scheduled for burial at his Ijebu – Igbo, Ogun State home today, Sunday, August 9, 2020.

The burial is scheduled for 12.00 – Midday.

But there is a snag.

The burial falls on one of the weekends Governor Dapo Abiodun imposed total lockdown in Ogun State as part of the fight against Covid-19.

The Governor refused to budge on the lockdown in the face of entreaties far and wide with many arrested and fined for flouting it -.

‘’Ordinarily, based on the lockdown order, the Kashamu’s burial shouldn’t hold’’ a source stated.

The lockdown forbids the movement of persons and goods, except essential commodities and personnel including the hosting of any form of social or religious gathering amongst others – not to talk of a burial with intimating crowd in attendance.

‘’Aside from the burial, there is also the issue of crowd control. A lot of Kashamu’s fanatical supporters want to pay last respect to their leader despite the lockdown. And a mamoth crowd is already at the place of burial. It remains to be seen how the state government handles the situation’’ societynow.ng learned.

‘’It is given that the Governor would be extremely careful based on the political consideration of not alienating the teaming supporters of Kashamu who are now targets of the guile of other political leaders hoping to take them over’’ a source stated.

Kashamu who was an influential political – and economic – leader in Ogun State played a major role in the emergence of Dapo Abiodun as the Governor of Ogun State.

The Governor in reacting to the Death of Kashumu stated ‘’ hit the depth of my being’’

The checks by societynow.ng revealed depending on how his men handle the ‘’situation’’ the Governor may be heading for another yet another controversy.
