The fight between Governor of Osun state Rauf Aregbesola and his favoured Government contractor Sammy Adigun has worsened.

Adigun is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sammya Nigeria Limited.

The construction company secured the larger percentage of contracts relating to its field in Osun state.

The special consideration Aregbesola gave Adigun’s firm was such that talks of “business partners” became commonplace.

“Despite the political storm it wiped up for him, that he favoured Sammya ahead of local firms, Aregbesola was undeterred in his patronage of Adigun’s company” a source stated.

But the situation is changed.

The Governor and his contractor are enmeshed in an intense fight that has erupted in the public space.

Adigun is openly accusing Aregbesola of persecuting his company.

The state Government sealed up Adigun’s firm for alleged N5million tax debt.

The tax debt was incurred between 2014 and 2016.

Adigun is miffed that a state government that owes his company N1.3billion carried out such an action.

He is said to be further angry that the Government he paid N85million to in different taxes this year had the effrontery to shutdown the dockyard of his outfit over a N5million debt allegedly incurred 2 to 3 years ago.

Obviously reading between the lines, Adigun has taken the matter to the court of public opinion detailing the facts of the case in a widely circulated press statement.

He has gone as far as to accept the liability of the N5million tax debt but urged the Osun Government to deduct it from source when paying the N1.3billion owed his company.

How did the “perfect relationship” between Aregbesola and Adigun get this bad?

Insiders disclosed Aregbesola was said to be angry with his favoured government contractor on issue of “loyalty”.

Sources claim after using personal funds to execute some of the awarded contracts and with payment not forthcoming, Adigun was said to have laid complains in “wrong ears”.

“The feedback from the coloration given to Adigun’s complains by those who took the message to Aregbesola is what we are witnessing” a source stated.
