Gov Abiodun All Set For Major Show Down With Senator Amosun

Details filtering in have it that after dodging a head-on political fight with Senator Ibikunle Amosun before and after he assumed office, the governor of Ogun state Dapo Abiodun is finally ready for a major showdown.
Insiders disclosed that Dapo Abiodun is prepared for an all-out fight with Senator Amosun over who controls the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ogun State.

Societynow.ng learned that Governor Abiodun is buoyed in this move with the official defection of heavyweight politicians across the state – with loyalty to his faction – to the All Progressives Congress.

Gboyega Isiaka (Ogun West), Salamat Badru (Ogun Central ) and Fatai Sowemimo (Ogun East), Dipo Sofowora (Ogun East) are some of the heavyweight politicians that just led an impressive number of defectors from rival parties to swell the rank of the APC – with governor Abiodun as the direct beneficiary.

Governor Abiodun’s loyalists control the secretariate of the party in Ogun state after ”chasing out” the supporters of Senator Amosun in earlier skirmishes.

Amosun who possesses strong clout at the national level of the APC is attempting to regain influence in the local politics with control of the party.
The former governor – Amosun – is relying heavily on the return of his loyalists who floated the Allied People’s Movement to prosecute the last gubernatorial election when their choice, Adekunle Akinlade was unable to secure the governorship ticket of the APC.

Amosun’s hardcore loyalists led by Akinlade have announced their return to APC and want to return to the status they maintained before they defected to the APM but Dapo Abiodun is having none of that.

Insiders disclosed that Governor Abiodun insists that the returnees from APM – who form the political backbone of Amosun before they pulled out – have to start as new members in APC and rise through the ranks.

Societynow.ng gathered that Amosun and his men have rejected Abiodun’s stance but the Governor appears adamant in the bid to have his way as the ”leader’ of the APC in Ogun state.

The governor went public with the underground fight when he openly declared while welcoming the horde of new members loyal to him into the APC that ”nobody can come into the party through the window”.

Abiodun insists that all returnees from APM should go back to their ward to register as new members and start their political journey in the party on a clean slate – they are deemed to have forfeited the gains of past toils for the party with the defection and passionate but failed opposition against the emergence of Abiodun as the governor of Ogun state.

societynow.ng gathered that to show a seriousness of purpose in achieving his objective, Abiodun is empowering his loyalists within the party across the different zones that Amosun’s power men operate in the state.

Societynow.ng gathered that Amosun’s and his supporters are already plotting a counter move to neutralize the ploy by Abiodun to contain their influence within the party and Ogun state in general.
