Gbenga Daniel Sets Aside Rift With Abiodun To Celebrate Gov’s Mother On 90th Birthday
Mama Victoria Olaitan Abiodun, on her 90th birthday.
Despite his ongoing political feud with Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Senator Gbenga Daniel, who represents Ogun East in the National Assembly, has extended warm birthday wishes to the Governor’s mother, Mama Victoria Olaitan Abiodun, on her 90th birthday.
Daniel, a former governor of the state, described Mrs. Abiodun as a “wonderful matriarch” whose grace and wisdom have inspired many. In his message, he reflected on their “engaging moments and productive discussions,” noting that her sharp memory and kind spirit reminded him of his late mother — a connection made more personal by their shared name, Olaitan.
“Happy 90th Birthday to the wonderful matriarch of Ogun East, Mrs. Victoria Olaitan Abiodun! I deeply appreciate the engaging moments and productive discussions we’ve shared. Mama’s sharp memory and warm spirit remind me so much of my own mother, especially with them sharing the name Olaitan. Mothers like her are a blessing and must be cherished. We celebrate your nine decades of grace. Happy Birthday, Mama!” he wrote.
The senator’s gesture comes amid heightened political tension between both camps.
Relations between Daniel and Abiodun have grown increasingly strained in recent months, with reports suggesting that the Governor may be eyeing the Ogun East Senatorial seat in 2027, a position Daniel currently holds and is said to be keen on retaining.
Observers say Daniel’s public show of goodwill toward the Governor’s mother reflects an uncommon moment of civility in Ogun’s charged political climate.
It also underscores his effort to separate political differences from personal respect — particularly for an elderly figure widely regarded as a pillar of grace and family unity in the state.
