Senator Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy and former Governor of Ogun State, has paid an emotional tribute to the late Chief (Mrs.) Stella Obasanjo, describing her as “a woman of rare grace, courage, and devotion,” as Nigeria marks the 20th anniversary of her passing.

In a personally signed letter addressed to former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR), Senator Daniel reflected on the life and legacy of the former First Lady, who served the nation with compassion, elegance, and an unwavering commitment to humanity. He noted that Mrs. Obasanjo’s life “remains a shining example of purposeful service and enduring love, both to the Obasanjo family and to our great nation.”

The letter, dated October 20, 2025, and titled “Forever in Our Hearts,” celebrated the late First Lady’s quiet strength and humanitarian vision, which he said continue to inspire generations.

Daniel praised her for her advocacy on women’s rights, child welfare, and social development, highlighting how her compassion touched countless lives across Nigeria.

“She embodied dignity in leadership and kindness in humanity—qualities that remain a moral compass for many Nigerians,” the Senator wrote. “Her legacy endures through the causes she championed and the values she lived by: humility, service, and patriotism.”

Addressing Chief Obasanjo directly, Senator Daniel expressed his deep solidarity, acknowledging the lasting void left by her passing two decades ago. “May this 20th memorial bring renewed strength, peace, and gratitude for a life beautifully lived and forever remembered,” he wrote.

Senator Daniel’s tribute not only underscored his personal bond with the Obasanjo family but also reaffirmed the nation’s collective admiration for Stella Obasanjo—a First Lady remembered for her elegance, empathy, and tireless dedication to a better Nigeria.
