Finatrust Microfinance Bank today announced plans to commemorate its second year of operations in the financial sector.

MD/CEO Deji Popoola, in a brief statement, says the bank’s management and staff are ‘beyond excited and grateful to Nigerians’ for the lavish support it has enjoyed from stakeholders, customers, partners, media and allied organisations since Finatrust commenced business on October 1, 2009.

Finatrust, a Lagos-based financial service provider, with strategic business alliance with Fidelity bank, was granted an Approval-in-principle by the Central Bank of Nigeria in January 2009; and officially commenced business in October after receiving a final license from the CBN. Within the first year, the bank established itself as a leader within the MFB industry. And, two years down the line, industry watchers say Finatrust is one of the few banks winning back customer interest and trust in the MFB sector.

‘What has set us apart, really, is our genuine interest and dedication to the growth and continued success of our customers and their businesses while making sure that we embrace best practices as far as delivering financial services is concerned’

‘That we’ve come this far, is to the glory of God, and that hard work of every member of staff, powered by the trust depositors invest in us, despite the widespread misconceptions about the MFBs in Nigeria.

As part of plans to celebrate the anniversary, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo of Trinity House joined members of staff and customers of the bank, for an early morning thanksgiving service held at the bank’s head office in Ikeja, Lagos. The bank’s management also paid a visit to Heart of Gold Children’s Hospice at 57, Adebola Street Surulere, Lagos.

Deji Popoola, a seasoned banker with close to two decades experience working in various financial institutions, says, under his leadership, Finatrust is poised to expand and make its presence felt not just in other parts of Lagos, but across the South West region, within the next few years.
