There was great drama and excitement in Ogun state on Friday April 20 2012.

The Governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosun donated security apparatus to the tune of N4.2b to the states police command.

Among the donations were six armoured vehicles, guns of different species and twenty million bullets.

The event which held at the Armed Forces Remembrance Arcade ground, Oke Imosan Governor’s office was decorated with a lot of drama.

The highlight was the unveiling and test driving of the armoured vehicles.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun took the lead in test the driving the armoured vehicle himself to the delight of many.

The Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar followed with the same feat to great adulation.

Replica of the exercise by Deputy Governor Segun Adesegun and Ogun House of Assemble Speaker, only heightened the rapatious glee that trailed the actions.

Displays of the functions of the Tank Vehicles and command perfomances from the state police command were other parts of the high lights.

Investigations by societynowng.com revealed that aside the six armoured tanks donated- another five are undergoing clearing procedures.

According to informants the plan is to make it a total of thirty in two years time.

Investigation revealed that the strategy is to put the state at a zero tolerance level for armed robbers and other security threats.

Ogun state was the target of series of talk of the town armed robberies and related vices attack in recent past.

With this donation, it is expected that dwindled crime in the state will further depreciate to a significant level.

Other items donated were Hilux vans and bullet proof vests.

Societynowng.com investigations revealed that the armoured tanks’ sophistication were such that, it took security clearance from the presidency before Governor Amosun and his team were allowed to acquire and take possession home and abroad.
