Popular politician Kashamu Buruji is a year older today – Tuesday, May 19, 2020.

The immediate past Senator representing Ijebu East Senatorial Constituency of Ogun State clocked 62.

And Governor of the State Dapo Abiodun has uplifted what would have turned out a muted birthday celebration.

Kashamu’s birthday is virtually blacked out with the controversies surrounding his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the recent set up a state chapter of the party in Ogun State that is beholden to him.

A development which has fractionalized his support base as key members pull out to side with the National body of the PDP that insists Kashamu stands expelled from the PDP.

These controversies and the raging fight against Covid-19, especially the keep- safe rule of social distancing and directive by the state government that Kashamu’s birthday falls on ‘’no movement day’’ has virtually blacked out the powerful politician’s birthday but for the move by Governor Abiodun societynow.ng learned.

The governor issued a widely spread ‘’best wishes’’ message to Kashamu that has turned the birthday of the former Senator to a talking point.

Societynow.ng’s checks revealed supporters and opponents of Kashamu are currently engaged in face-off on different platforms over the relationship between the governor and former Senator – with supporters of Abiodun joining the fray based on claims the governor sends out birthday messages to all and sundry.

‘’People, however, need to understand that Kashamu worked for the emergence of Dapo Abiodun as the governor of Ogun State and deserves the recognition in form of a goodwill message from the governor whichever way you look at it.’’ a source pointed.

Insiders disclosed that based on the prevailing situation concerning the Covid-19, Kashamu Buruji is not holding any event to celebrate his birthday.
