Details: Gov Oyetola Commissions 160-Bed Isolation Centre In Osogbo
Governor of Osun State Gboyega Oyetola just (Tuesday, May 20, 2020) commissioned a 160-Bed Isolation Centre in Osogbo, the state capital.
The Governor announced the development in a Facebook post that reads
Today, I was delighted to commission the 160-bed Mercyland Isolation Centre in Osogbo, which is another addition to our initiatives for the effective management of the Coronavirus pandemic in our State.
The centre was renovated by the Coalition Against COVID-19 (Ca-COVID).
The Coalition also donated equipment and consumables for 100 beds to which the State Government added 60 beds. On the same premises, we have an existing 20-bed isolation centre, making the Mercyland facility a180-bed Isolation centre.
It’s pertinent to note that before now, we have a 130-bed facility at Ejigbo; 12-bed capacity at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and another 20-bed isolation centre at Asubiaro, in addition to an 8-bed Intensive Care Unit at the centre. In all, we now have 342-isolation beds and 8 ICU-bed facility in the State.
We will keep on expanding our Isolation capacity even as we continue to make efforts to halt the spread of COVID-19 in our dear State. I, therefore, appreciate CACOVID for their kindness and sense of duty at this time when we need all the assistance we can get to keep our people and State safe.
As a State, we are indebted to our health workers and other frontline workers for their unrelenting services and commitment to the war against COVID-19. We are also grateful to our traditional rulers, religious leaders, corporate organisations, security agencies and well-meaning citizens for their support all the way.
We also appreciate you, the good people of Osun, for your understanding and cooperation during these hard times.
I appeal to you to continue to comply with the subsisting rules and regulations so that we can come out of these trying times soon and continue with our normal lives.
