A serious but quiet fight is going on in Osun State.

And it is all about who determines the next speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly.

The major actors in the political fight are the governor of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and his Predecessor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

Oyetola and Aregbesola are members of ruling All Progressives Congress.

Governor Oyetola served in the administration of Mr Aregbesola as Chief of Staff to the executive governor.

He held the position for eight years.

Their relationship was believed to be very cordial while the administration of the former commissioner for works in Lagos State lasted.

But information filtering out of the Osun state government circle showed the battle for who determines the next speaker of the state house of assembly has pitched the once upon a time political associates against each other.

Information at the disposal of societynow.ng reveals Honourable Timothy Owoeye to be Aregbesola’s choice for the speakership position.

Hon. Owoeye represents Ilesa East state consistency.

And he’s tagged one of Aregbesola’s most loyal men.

Mr Aregbesola is equally from Ilesa.

Those who are familiar with the situation maintain incumbent governor Oyetola is against his former boss’ choice.

Checks revealed Honourable Tunde Olatunji to be Governor Oyetola’s favoured candidate.

Olatunji is the member representing the people of Ife North at the osun state house of assembly.

According to sources Oyetola moved against Aregbesola’s choice and came up with candidate of choice for a simple reason – he wants to limits Aregbeola’s influence in the government he oversees.

Checks showed Oyetola looks good to have his way as he said to be enjoying the backing of other party men who equally shared the idea the governor have higher influence in the administration of Osun state.
