The immediate reason why Biyi Otegbeye, the preferred gubernatorial candidate of former governor Ibikunle Amosun came a distant third in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ogun state has been revealed.

And Otegbeye’s political party, Action Democratic Congress (ADC) didn’t win any state of assembly seat in the March 18, 2023 election.

“Amosun’s men turned their back on him and his candidate on election day” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that Amosun’s point men working for Otegbeye simply refused to deploy “necessary expertise”.

“There are people known as canvassers and mobilizers in political parlance, All candidates have them, while those of the other two major candidates went to work, those working for Otegbeye simply failed to act. Otegbeye, the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 94,754 votes to come a distant third with Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) claiming victory with  276,298 votes while Ladi Adebutu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) closely followed in second place with 262, 383 votes.

Adebutu who lost by 13, 915 votes to Abiodun is already challenging the results on claims of “irregularities”  in his stronghold.

The loss recorded by Amosun’s adopted gubernatorial candidate and his party was so far-reaching that they did not win even in the former Governor’s domain.

“They didn’t even get an Assembly seat in Ogun state” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Insiders disclosed that Amosun adopted his traditional approach of moving here and there during the election to galvanize voters not knowing that his “canvassers and mobilizers” were not “living up to expectation”.

“He put his trust in a process that wasn’t there for him.” SocietyNow.Ng learned.
