Details: All Local Govts In Ogun Operate Without Vital Appointment

Different conjectures and speculations are raging as Governor Abiodun remains silent

Details available to societynow.ng revealed that all the 20 council chairmen in Ogun state are operating without a very vital appointment.

“The position of SLG is vacant in all the local governments” societynow.ng learned.

The “SLG” is the Secretary to the Local Government and is usually sworn in along with the Chairman societynow.ng gathered.

The incumbent chairmen (20) and councilors (236) in Ogun state were in sworn on July 26, 2021, by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

“Strangely the position of the SLG which is critical to the operations of the local governments was left out not just in one but all the councils” societynow.ng learned.

Part of the functions of the SLG – under the supervision of the chairman – as stated in the law setting up the local government operations include “…be responsible for the execution of the policies of the Local Government and the day-to-day running of the affairs of the Local Government and in particular,

(a) The supervision and control of all employees of the Local Government, and
(b) The co-ordination of all the activities of the departments of the Local Governments

The checks by societynow.ng revealed that different conjectures and speculations are raging as Governor Abiodun remains silent on this development – with the chairmen empowered by law to make the appointments “helpless” in the face of the Governor’s posture.
