Wale Adedayo, an aspirant for the position of the chairman of Ijebu East Local Government of Ogun State has declared a definite promise to do things that will “benefit the greatest number of people” if elected.
Adedayo, a thorough bred media person with great clarity on local and national politics emphasized his declaration with the disclosure that his oath of office would be done with “Ogun Lakaaye” the god of Iron.

Adedayo’s message published on his social media page today, February 2, 2021, reads

We’ll go the Afenifere way, which was replicated during the tenure of LKJ and his colleagues. Ours is not about sloganeering, asking people to vote for us, based on spurious sentiments. Since our oath of office will be done with Ogun Lakaaye, it is a definite promise we are making.

We’ll do things that will benefit the GREATEST number of people, not a privileged few. We know the problems already. And, our solutions are ready. We’ll not get into office and be setting up committees on what to do. But we’ll also consult with residents of each of our 11 Wards, giving them what we have and asking for inputs from them, as we work.

The greatest employer of Labour in a country like Nigeria should be Agriculture. This local government, Ijebu East, is a typical example. No good roads to transport farm products to town; by the time these products get to town, almost one-third are rotten; and, processing in this area is almost nil. Meanwhile, processing of these products will employ Accountants, Business Managers, Engineers and the like.

We’ll interface with higher institutions located within Ogun State to get the best for those involved in Agriculture. Nothing stops us from using as Extension Workers, students on IT. Old and new researches from these schools, which are deemed valuable will be deployed for the use of our people.

Instead of a 100% dependence on giving out mosquito nets annually to curb the spread of malaria, we’ll task our Engineers on how to ensure future drainages are covered, not open; Local Government Environmental Officers and Biologists in our higher institutions should give us solutions to tackle mosquitoes, either immediately around us or in our streams and rivers.

Ijebu East Local Government should be the ideal place to target, when sourcing for the export of cassava chips, pellets and starch. The demand is enormous in Europe and Asia. But they want quality export products, which is where our higher institutions come in. We are already in talks with one. Processing machines are very expensive to import. But these can be produced locally through the assistance of our schools. We are determined to assist our Agripreneurs.

Currently, both the Federal and State Governments are assisting farmers and others with micro-credits and grants. We’ll assist in blocking loopholes through which those who do not belong in this category take most of what belong to persons involved in Agriculture. Of course, we’ll add ours. But we’ll create a genuine database of all those involved in Agriculture in this local government.

Olodumare remains our witness that,

“Ise wa fun Ile wa,
Fun Ile ibi wa,
Ki a gbega, ki a gbega f’aye ri …”

You’ll be very proud to be a resident of Ijebu East Local Government.
